Journalism is the activity or profession of writing for newspapers, magazines, or news websites or preparing news to broadcast. There are several different forms of journalism, all with diverse audiences. Some forms may include: broadcast journalism, data journalism, photojournalism, yellow journalism, etc. journalism is commonly used in our everyday lives, whether you realize it or not. Even though some say that the journalism industry is very prestigious to get into, it’s not impossible.

The Mayor Frank G. Jackson Program has really motivated me to promote my future business. I have learned a lot from my supervisor Mr. William Porch and also from the entire youth communications team. This program has really opened my eyes to new things that I thought I would never see. I was never serious about starting my own business until I started on the youth communications team. Now that the program is coming to an end, I can honestly say this is what I want to do in the future. This program has even allowed me to create my own website and inspired me to promote my own social media outreaches. I definitely would recommend this program for the youth that have a passion for mass communications.

In the future, I want to pursue a career in journalism. I want to go to college for business and journalism. I am currently creating my young women’s empowerment group for ladies called “The Queen’s Lounge”. Further down the line, I would like to soon create an online magazine for The Queen’s Lounge. I got the idea to create this group from our society today. As you can see, men and women in this country are not equal whatsoever.

There are some women today that are called disrespectful names and reduced to a lower level of importance. I feel as if that’s a problem in our society because women shouldn’t feel like that. All females should feel confident in what they do and how they do it. All women are beautiful in their own way and should be recognized for their beauty. Thanks to the Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s Summer Youth Employment Program, I have been posting to a blog that I have made more frequent, and I have been promoting my business profile on different social networks. I have had this idea for so long and it was time that I stopped prolonging it. It is now my time to bring inspiration to terrific ladies!

If you have a dream and/or a passion, run with it. Don’t let it go because you never know what change you can bring to the world. I am glad that I am finally following my dream because if it wasn’t for this program, I would be back at square one. Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do it because you can. There are going to be people who discourage you but you can’t let that affect who you are as a person. Be bright, be YOU!
